Mentholatum Organic Certified Lipbalm [Review]

By everbluec · June 5, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

In April 2012, Mentholatum Lip care launches a new Organic lipbalm range with the highest Eco-Cert accreditation.

  • Free of artifical chemicals, preservative or colorants
  • Healthy, safe and gentle enough even for sensitive lips
  • Recyclable and bioegradable

Using a nourishing blend of natural oils from renowned organic farms globally, its creamy and non-sticky texture glides on smoothly for soft, silky lips.

Organic Ingredients sourced from Internationally Renowned Organic Farms:::

  • African Organic Shea Butter - Soothes & heals dry lips
  • Spanish Organic Oil - Fights ageing & prevents chapped lips
  • Argentinean Organic Jojoba Oil - Provides long-lasting hydration
  • Columbian Organic Coconut Oil - Softens skin for silky smooth lips

My thoughts on both the Mentholatum Organic Certified Lipbalms

  • Both Raspberry & Strawberry and Lavender & Orange flavours lip balms feel quite the same on the lips.
  • Doesn't feel sticky nor thick waxy type of feel (texture)
  • The scent wasn't too overpowering
  • Lip balm doesn't have much of a taste , just taste like normal tasteless lip balm
  • light weight
  • Give the right amount of moisture for the lips
  • Prevent lips from getting tight and dry
  • Doesn't last as long as those thick waxy lip balm that was meant for "crack lips"
  • lips doesn't feel dry or the need to reapply after the lip balm wore off
  • Feel like I apply a layer of silky soothing oil on the lip.
The oil doesn't really feel like oily type of oil... more like those creamy lotion type of greasy feel. Feel rather similar to liquid lip balm (you know those roller type, but not as watery)
  • Both have soothing not too strong scents.
  • I haven't have "cracked" lips for awhile now... so I can't say much whether it will heal and soothe crack bleeding lips.
(Will edit that in, if I have cracked lips)

I normally use lipbalm as an overnight treatment... so my review was base on that. I sleep in AC room and I use my mouth to breath MOST of the time, so my lips tend to crack, peel and become super tight easily.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter [Review]

By everbluec · June 5, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter is an intensive creamy all-over body moisturiser, with hydrating, zesty and invigorating Satsuma essential oil. Also containing Community Traded melon seed oil plus shea and cocoa butter for up to 24 hours moisturisation.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter is suitable for normal skin.

The Body Shop's Body Butter are set apart from competitor products for four important reasons:

  • The unique texture: A firm and creamy formula that melts into the skin
  • Natural ingredients: Our Body Butter are bursting with moisturising ingredients and natural actives such as Strawberry Seed Oil, Moringa Seed Oil and Mango Seed Oil
  • Long-lasting moisture:  Soft and smooth skin, hydrated for up to 24 hours
  • Community Fair Trade: Our Body Butter are rich in Community Fair Trade ingredients like Shea Butter and Marula Oil, helping to support communities all over the world.

Ingredients list...

  • Satsuma essential oil - Moisturises the skin. Provides natural fragrance.
  • Shea butter - Has a high level of antioxidant vitamins a, e and f, which help protect and nourish the skin. Moisturises and helps soften the skin.
  • Cocoa butter - Is an excellent moisturiser that melts at body temperature, leaving the skin feeling soft and silky smooth.

The body butter is really creamy and abit oily - Not like those gel cream type of moist texture yet not so rich that it was hard to spread out on the skin.

After spreading and smoothing out the cream all over the body (I use this on my hands, arms and legs)... it feel creamy and oily on the skin.

It have that thick rich type of body cream texture after the body butter absorbed into the skin in room temperature, but feel rather nice in Air-con room. It does feel abit sticky if applied too much. (I have a case of overapplying body lotion/hand lotion on my hands... I love the greasy feel when I'm in air-con room at night)

Very hydrating, skin feel smooth and soft after washing off (I means in the shower the next day).

The scrent - It smell like "orange" with a hint of floral - (To me it smell citrusy orange scent -I love orange, so the scent doesn't bother me.) My sister said it smell like sour musky flowers(lolx at her description).

The amount I used on the above was abit much... so I spread it all over my both arms.

A little history of The Body Shop's body butter:::

  • The Body Shop's body butter was first launched in 1992
  • Born in, their founder Anita Roddick’s kitchen.
  • The very first Mango Body Butter was given its name by her daughter who, while making a piece of toast, simply said “It’s like butter…for your body”

The Body Shop's body Butter are produced like just chocolate! The raw ingredients are warmed to a high temperature, before being put into jars and cooled to create a firm consistency
