Biore UV Watery Essence (Review)

By everbluec · March 21, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Recently Singapore launched the #1 Sunscreen in Japan - Biore UV watery Essence - a sunblock that was so light and moisturizing it doesn't feel like a sunblock.

This water-rich UV essence feels surprisingly light, refreshing and cooling on the skin that absorbed instantly without any greasy, sticky feel or white cast.

Sunplay Watery Cool sunblock SPF 65 PA+++ and Watery Cool Mist SPF75 PA+++ [Review]

By everbluec · July 29, 2012 · 2 Comments ·

In April 2012 (Singapore), Mentholatum Sunplay the No1 sunscreen brand in Japan released Watery Cool Sunblock and Watery Cool mist fomula with their new Patented Solarex 3 in 1 technology.

Love the cute penguin cartoon image on the bottle!

I have been wanting to try this when I saw it at Watsons and the "yellow" bottle one (In taiwan, it was labelled for sensitive skin, but Singapore, it labelled as Kid's sunscreen) ... Will get them when I finished some of my "rotating sunblock/sunscreen that I'm using NOW.

Spread out...

The texture feels rather similar to Sunplay Super Block(with SOLAREX-3) and Original version.

My thoughts after using this for 3weeks.....

  • The Sunplay watery cool sunblock feel rather similar to the Sunplay Super block with SPF 130.
  • Very watery easy to smooth out on the skin
  • Feel minty cooling on the skin - refreshing
[If applying around eye's areas.. please wait till it fully absorbed then open the eyes, else it would be super icy around the rim of the eyes.]
  • easily absorbed into the skin
  • Does feel abit oily...  more of a silky type of oilyness.
[Feel abit less oily as compare to the Sunper block]
  • Doesn't feel sticky nor stuffy on the skin
  • Does leave a dewy white cast, the "white" will went away after the lotion fully absorbed
  • No residues.
  • Doesn't cause any skin irritation
  • Didn't cause any break-out
  • Quite moisturizing (but I still layer moisturizer on tope)
  • Skin doesn't feel tight nor drying after wearing it for a few hours
[Because of the minty feel, I thought this will be drying on the skin, but it doesn't!]
  • Doesn't changed the formula of my base makeup when layering ontop of the sunblock
(I apply sunblock before any skincare/base products)
  • Decent sunblocking power for normal outing under

Leaders Clinic MEDIEU Sensitive Sun cream SPF50+ PA+++ [Review]

By everbluec · May 31, 2012 · 2 Comments ·

Leaders Clinic MEDIEU Sensitive Sun cream(with SPF50+ PA+++) is a light, creamy makeup base with UV protection that penetrate the skin for moisture and protects the skin from harmful UV rays all day.

Its SPF 50+, PA+++ protection provides adequate shield against UV A, B and effectively protects the skin for indoor or outdoor activities. Deeply moisturize your skin with soft & creamy texture.

  •  It is water resistance and has long lasting effect.
And because it is non-greasy or sticky, particles such as sand does not stick to the skin making it perfect for the beach or other outdoor activities.
  •  Safe for use on young children and people with sensitive skin.
  •  It’s naturally corrects the skin tone and can be use as a makeup base.
  • The light texture makes it feel more like a moisturizer and not a sunblock.
  •  Does not cause the skin to have white overcast after applying.
  •  A heavy duty sun protection that feels light on your skin.

Giving you all the protection needed while you have your outdoor Fun!

Ingredients list...

The shade of this tinted suncream is abit warm pinkish [The above pic look abit wash off by the harsh lighting)

On my cheek...  I donno why it look beige on my cheek (Blame it on the lighting and my camera! kekekekeee)

The tinted sun cream blended into my skin nicely and it does even out my complexion. But the warm pink tone in this tinted suncream just make my face look abit darker after awhile.

I will to use a piece of tissue to blot off the excess serum/pigment. The pigment will transfer over to the tissue and my skin will look like I didn't apply anything.

Here my thoughts on the Leaders Clinic MEDIEU Sensitive Sun cream with SPF50+ PA+++
Have been trying this on and off for more then 3 months now.

  • Quite moisturizing(I can skin moisturizer with this suncream)
  • Feel quite soothing on the skin
  • The texture of the suncream was creamy and moist.
  • Doesn't feel heavy nor thick on the skin (lightweight)
  • Easy to spread around the face
  • Feels abit greasy and took awhile to fully absorb into the skin.
  • Doesn't feel sticky
  • Does even out uneven complexion
  • Doesn't provide much coverage
  • It does become abit redish on my skin (oxidise on me)
  • The color from this tinted suncream is transferable (I normally use a piece of tissue to dap off the excess serum/pigment)
  • It's tinted, so no white cast on the face
  • Not flakey nor causing any residue
  • Doesn't cause any skin irritation nor break-out
  • Doesn't brighten up my complexion (which I would love to have in a makeup base or tinted suncream)
  • When layer, it won't change the formula of the bbcream/foundation.
  • No say on the oil control section, cos my skin's kinda dry....
  • My skin didn't feel tight nor dry after a few hours.... (which I will experiences with waterproof sunblock)
  • My skin doesn't burn after staying long hours outdoor under the hot sun.

I like the formula of this sun cream, but I don't quite like the "tinted" part, cos it just add more "red" on my already redish skin.  I still prefer sunblock/sunscreen to be clear, white or lightly tinted (just to brighten and not providing any "shade")

I didn't use any foundation after the suncream, just set it with a loose powder.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk with SPF50 PA+++

By everbluec · May 22, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

[Review]

Last Month Hada Labo brings in their Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk with SPF50 PA+++ to our sunny island!

This multipurpose UV milk has 3-in-1 benefits:

  • UV Protection - With SPF50 PA+++, users can be assured of a high, broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB.

  • Hydration - Like the rest of the Hada Labo products, Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk SPF50 PA+++ reaches deep into the skin to moisturize the skin with 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid. It locks in moisture for a soft, supple and radiant skin for all day.

  • Makeup Base - as a base, foundation can glide easily on the smoother skin after applying it. The light, water like texture makes it easy for an even application and is quickly absorbed without stickiness. The UV milk is transparent, leaving no white residues.

The UV milk is gentle on skin, as it is free of artifical ingredients such as fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant that may burden the skin. This UV milk also keeps the skin's PH balanced, and is rigorusly tested for low skin irritation.

Ingredients list...

Here's the swatches of the UV milk...
[Left- taken without flash][Right - taken with flash]

After smoothing out the UV milk... it does leave a glossy firm and feel abit oily (not those thick type of greasy feel)

[Above taken with flash]
[below taken without flash]

Since last month, I have start applying all sunblock, sunscreen on bare skin before moisturizer (I love it!!)
Click here to read why I apply sunblock/sunscreen first.

Here's my thoughts on::
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk with SPF50 PA+++

  • Very moisturizing
  • Cos of the high moisturizing factor, my skin look supple after applying the UV milk
  • The texture of the UV milk was very watery and light
  • Feels very greasy when first applied on the skin, but at the same time the greasiness feel light and watery(not those thick sticky type)
  • Took awhile for it to absorb, but once absorbed, skin doesn't look so glossy (just a slight sheen)
(Simply just use a piece of tissue to dap off the excess serum and shine away before primer/foundation)
  • Doesn't leave any white cast on the skin.
  • Not flakey nor causing any residue
  • Doesn't cause any skin irritation nor cause me to break-up with the greasiness
  • Doesn't even out nor brighten up skin complexion like a normal makeup base.
  • When layer, it won't change the formula of the bbcream/foundation.
  • Doesn't feel heavy nor thick on the skin ( very light weight sun milk)
  • It does work well as a base for foundation (Not for minimizes pores, lines or even out complexion)
  • oil control wise was pretty average - I have no say on it because my skin was kinda dry combination(for the past few months)
  • My skin didn't feel tight nor dry after a few hours.

The sunblock powder was quite good, cos these few days, weathers were so HOT and Humid...
My face didn't burn and with the high moisturizing factor, my skin was well hydrating and doesn't causes any new inflammation due to crazy weathers.

And last Friday, attended an event at Sentosa and silly us didn't know that there have shutter bus at VIVO, we took tram and walked about 70 meters under HOT sun without any shades!!!! (haiyo~) Luckily didn't burn my face!!!

Oh ya....  I like the sheen it gives when I apply my cream moisturizer on top of this UV milk, my skin look hydrated and smooth. And it doesn't make foundation feel cakey, patchy or floating on top of my skin (you know with so many layers of products before the foundation).

[note:: I have dry combination skin now.. only abit oily on my nose and forehead on humid days.]

For normal to oily combination skin, this UV milk is hydrating enough to skip moisturizer.

Suitable for daily usage on the face, neck and body.

    Price: SD$19.90 (38ml)
The Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk SPF 50 PA+++ is available exclusively in Watsons.

    Dr.Ci:Labo UV & White Sensitive Milk Spf 20 PA+

    By everbluec · December 13, 2011 · 2 Comments ·

    [Review]

Few months ago, received a tube of Dr.Ci:Labo UV & White Sensitive Milk from a friend to try try... (Me love trying sunblock)

Doesn't contain any fragrance, mineral oil or coloring.

UV & White Sensitive Milk is a sun block that cuts UV A and B rays while protecting the barrier function of delicate skin to promote its healthy functioning.

It is based on four types of ceramides which provide moisture to your skin, protect it from external irritants, and promote your skin's natural barrier function; furthermore, contains an "ATP complex*" created from plants native to Japan and China.  Vitamin H and P are also added to help maintain your skin in healthy condition.  It goes on smoothly and simply, makes a perfect foundation, and can be used year-round.

Minimal irritation of delicate skin. Ingredients that could irritate delicate skin have been minimized, and a UV blocker that doesn't burden your skin has been adopted.

*Dong dang gui extract, pueraria root extract, kuma-zasa extract, perilla extract, Chinese peony, Japanese Gold Thread extract.

The ingredients of this sensitive milk were too yummy right? (Yummy on the skin, lolx)

The texture of the sunblock lotion was pretty wet, abit creamy.
Easy to spread all over the face.

->>>> When I apply the milk on cleanse bare face... the milk absorbed into the skin really well leaving a thin film of lotion feel. And on moisturized skin, it might feel abit sticky and greasy (I actually don't mind the feeling.. it feel like a normal sunblock lotion)

->>>> The finishing look abit wet on the skin

->>>> Doesn't mess up any application of primer nor foundation(bbcream).

    ->>>> Very moisturizing and soothing

->>>> Doesn't leave any white cast

->>>> Doesn't cause any skin irritation nor cause any breakout.

->>>> Sunblock powder wasn't that strong, good enough for normal outing(shopping)... mostly indoor.

->>>> I can see my freckles on my upper cheeks become abit darker if I stay I'm under the sun for longer time (I didn't experiences that when I'm using higher SPF sunblock/lotion) Well, since this sunblock was target for sensitive skin with minimium ingredients that will cause skin irritation. But it's good enough, since we stay indoor most of the time right (office or shopping mall)

Hmmm... that's about it, if I miss out anythings.... let me know or ask me thru comment below(email also can).

Along with the Sensitive Milk, they also included some samples in a cute little white pouch  <3

Dr.Ci:Labo is available at selected departmental stores...

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Mousse and Jelly Water Base

    By everbluec · June 12, 2011 · 3 Comments ·

Received a surprised Parcel from Kao Sg in May 2011... and I have been trying it out for about a month now.

    From the release:
In March 2011 - Biore, the No.1 Sunscreen in Japan has added 2 new sunscreens to it existing UV milk range.

Biore Aqua Rich UV sunscreen range offer superior UV Protection with no sticky feeling on the skin. Biore Aqua Rich UV sunscreens have a water-based formula that allows it to spread easily on the skin and be instantly absorbed. They are enriched with Hyaluronic Acid and citrus essence to hydrate and soften skin.

Price: SD$18.90 (33g) (Available in all leading Pharmacies)

    The swatches/texture of the mousse...

It look lika a "soild" mousse!

Just spreading out without blending it into the skin...

The mousse look white.. but after blending it into the skin... the aqua mirco capsule (notice some tiny dots of beads in the mousse?) with UV block ingredient will break and releases moisture into the skin.

It blended nicely into the skin leaving a smooth silky finishing.
    - Doesn't leave any white cast.
    - Not sticky or oily.
[Do note that it will flake if your moisturizer is "Gel base" or using any "gel" type of makeup base/primer]

When blending the mousse into the skin, it feel watery, pretty cooling(refreshing) and moisturizing... I have tried this mousse with various liquid foundations and it doesn't effect the texture/finishing of the liquid foundation. (Oil control- all depend on the liquid foundation)

It does feel abit dry around the ontop of my lips (cos that the most drier skin on my whole face and the alcohol in this products doesn't help much in hydrating that area)

(Note: I normally won't release much sebum when using a high moisturizing base/sunblock or moisturizer - and that's is why I love anti-aging foundaiton or bbcream because of it moisturizing factor.)

Price: SD$18.90 (90ML) (Available in all leading Pharmacies)

    Product Features:
    - Provides long lasting UV protection against harmful UV rays
    - Water-based texture feels light and comfortable on skin
    - Spreads easily and instantly absorbed
    - Enriched with Hyaluronic acid and citrus essence to keep skin hydrated and healthy
    - Mild fresh fruity fragrance
    - Suitable for face

    Swatches/texture of the Jelly...

The texture of this Jelly, feel more like a gel cream moisturizer... it was really watery!

Blend and absorb very well into the skin, without feeling sticky, oily or any white cast on the skin. (Doesn't have the wet type of feeling like normal lotion)

It simply don't feel like a sunscreen at all!! More like a moisturizer! Sometimes, when I'm feeling lazy... I skip my moisturizer and use this instead. This does flake if applied too thick. (Note:: I normally apply thick layer(s) of sunscreen.. but sometimes.. I overshot!(lolx))

Same as the Mousse water base.. this sunblock does not effect the result of various liquid foundation(I have used)... but because of the watery texture.. I feel that the sunscreening power might be easily wipe off when applying foundation or wear off as compare to the mousse.(It just a feeling)

For those who don't like the texture of a normal sunscreen, can give this a try because it feel like a moisturizer(lolx) and this can be use on the body too.

So far, I don't experiences any discomfort or skin darkening when using both products. (Sometimes, I felt that this products was abit drying on my face as compare to the body... anyway, this is just an average moisturizing sunscreen, it's more those intense hydrating products)

Mentholatum Sunplay Super block and UV Body Mist

    By everbluec · April 8, 2011 · 0 Comments ·

Mentholatum Sunplay Super block SPF130 PA+++

    Ingredients...(click to enlarge)

Texture of the sunblock lotion was very watery and light

    Thick application (before blending out)

(Above- taken with flash) (below- taken without flash)

    Blended out...

This sunblock lotion was very watery, easy to blend out and doesn't feel sticky at all.

It does make face look abit pale(white) at first, but once the lotion absorbed into the skin.. it doesn't have any white cast or any color different then my original skin tone. And it give a nice moisturizing glow on my skin. Doen't cause me any break-out.

Sometimes, when I applied too much(well, there will not be "too much" when it come to sunblock, lolx), it does feel abit oily. I just lightly dap it off with tissue. And it won't feel any different when I apply primer/foundation after the sunblock lotion.

Even though this is a super waterproof formula, it doesn't feel tight or dry.

I've tried some waterproof sunblock lotion before and it just make my face feel dry and tight after I removed my makeup at the end of the day  :(

Do keep in mind that this might feel abit "oily" in textures if you have applied thick moisturizer or cream.

    Sunplay UV BODY MIST

SPF80 PA++
In March, Sunplay (Rohto Mentholatum), the No1 sunscreen in Japan bring us a NEW Sunplay UV Body Mist Spray. With SPF 80 protection from UVB rays that will cause sunburnt. And PA++ protection from harmful UVA rays that will cause wrinkles and skin-aging.

-> Provide High level, full spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection
-> Waterproof, sweatproof, suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities
-> Instant refreshing and long-lasting cooling sensation, non-greasy
-> Contains Vitamins C & E to help reduce free radicals and protect the skin from harmful effects of the sun.

    Ingredients:
Alcohol, Propane/Butane/Isbutane, Homosalate, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Ethythexyl Sallcylate, Butyl MethoxydlbenzoyImethane, Octocrylene, Ethythexyl Triazone, Diethylhexyl 2, 6-Naphthalate, Caprylyl Methicone, Fragrance, Menthyl Lactate, Bisabolol/Zingibar Officinale (ginger) Root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Yeast Extract

    Spray spray spray...

    Direction of use:
Shake well before use. Hold 6-8 inches away from body and apply evenly on skin. Do not spray directly onto face. Spray onto palm and apply evenly on face. Reapply after swimming, perspiring or sun exposure to ensure maximum protection.

    • This UV body mist spray was pretty light in texture and non sticky.
    • when I first spray it on my arm, it feel abit wet, oily and very cooling. Once it absorbed into the skin, it won't feel that oily and wet anymore.
[The oily feel wasn't too strong, cos it feel like natural skin texture]
    • This UV body Mist abosbed really fast
    • The finishing was pretty nice, give my skin a pretty healthy glow and suprising that it was pretty moisturizing too.
    • The scent was sweet and citrus-y and kinda refreshing.
      (Peapea like it, lolx)

I didn't use ths on my face (I use this as body sunblock)... cos the liquid does feel oily in texture.. so I'm not risking it on my face(lolx)

Overall for both.... the sunblocking power was pretty decent :
I did not visit any park or beach lately... so I cannot say whether it will work great on long exposure under the sunny hot sun in Singapore.
So for normal morning to night outing in the city (shopping indoor + outdoor).. plus my normal foundation ontop of the sunblock.... I did not experience any sunburn nor skin darkening.
