Review: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating range

By everbluec · June 1, 2010 · 16 Comments ·

A couple weeks ago, I was inviting to the Hada Labo Launch preview :: Click to read more about the event

Now after trying the products for 2 weeks+(since 12 May)... I can say I'm impressed with Hada Labo! Normally, I find that Japanese Lotion(which is toner) was abit too thick my my liking! But now.. I've totally changed my point of view!

Before I start:
Do note that I have combination skin (Oily on the T-zone with dry patchy cheeks). My skin also abit sensitive- as it get red, itchy and painful if the products was too strong or not calming enough. I get blemishes/oil seeds easily if the product was too greasy(I guess that the common problems all combination/oily skin faces) For me, I prefer products that was meant for blemish or sensitive skin.

About the products::
All Hada Labo products are
-> Fragrances Free
-> Mineral oil Free
-> Alcohol Free
-> Colorant Free
-> Skin pH balanced
-> Low Irritationg.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Face Wash (SD$12.90)

My say::
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Face Wash
The texture of the wash when lather up was creamy thick mousse type of foam(Not greasy nor thin type of foam). It feel good when massage on the face and when rinse off, face feel hydrated and smooth. Not at all dying

However, I felt that this face wash was abit too mild for my combination skin. So I rotate it with my Uriage Anti-blemishes cleanser gel. Maybe I should get their(Hada Labo) AHB/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash. Cos it's gentle and can exfoliate dirt and oil trapped within the pores without being too harsh.

But the weird thing was.. my youngest sister(who have oily skin- very oily).. she love this face wash! She commented it make her face feel clean and hydrated! (I guess, we all have to really try it to know whether it suit you anot! lolx

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion (SD$22.90)

My say on::
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion
The texture of this Hydrating Lotion wasn't not like those normal western toner we used before. You know Japanese Toner [which they called it lotion] was always abit thicker... kinda like watery gel type (feel abit slimy.. lolx)

I only need 2 drops of the lotion, smooth it out on my palms and then pat it onto my face. It absorbed quite fast.

I didn't follow the method of patting the lotion onto the face like they advised.. I just do a fast and small patting motion all over my face rather then slowly pad, stay and move to the next spot (like they teach in the video[I add] below).

->> It doesn't feel that sticky as compare to the esscene and milk
->> once it absorbed, it feel like what you will feel like when you applied lotion.. not matt/powdery dry type... just moist.

->> This lotion is safe to apply around eye areas.
After lotion, I will follow up with my eyecream. I don't like to apply eyecream last, because it will not absorb as good after you applied all the other skincare products.

And when apply the eyecream first, it also created a sheer barrier from the moisturizer/essence which might be too harsh for the skin around the eye areas. This doesn't applied to Hada Labo products, because all their Hydrating range are suitable/safe to use around eye areas (Just my habit.)

->> The Hydrating lotion was very hydrating(I love it)..
But I'm so used to those western toner where it can be treated as double cleaning (Japanese Lotion are more of a skin softener).

Now, when I skip toner and if I have makeup on before... after shower, I will either use my Biotherm SOS toner or Uriage Cleaning water first (to double cleanse my face) before using Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion (I know, it's abit extra!! But, I just wanna make sure my face was totally clean before patting on the lotion!) Anyway, I enjoy using the lotion, it doesn't cause me any breakout, itchyness or irritation... I just need to get use to doing an extra step (using cleaning water or biotherm Toner).

.

After 2weeks plus of using this lotion everyday... I only used this much(This bottle gonna last me afew months! lolx)

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk(SD$22.90)

My say on::
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk I love the milk, it doesn't feel too heavy on my combination skin and it not greasy at all!! <3 It was so hydrating... my dry patchy cheeks, doesn't feel dry at all after I start using Hada Labo.

I notice that my skin kinda look more brighter and more hydrated (even from my pics.. with foundation on, my skin look more moist/dewy.. my nose show the most result, it look shiny(I guess it was too hydrated for my nose! lolx), rather then greasy shine and sometimes flaky.

The texture of the Milk, was like a thick milky gel!
Doesn't look watery at all... but once I rub it against my palm, it feel so watery and I only need 2 drops for my whole face!
After the lotion, becos of my skin condition.. I need some anti blemishes products. I will layer on the Uriage Anti-blemishes cream- it prevent breakout, minimize redness/pigmentation and I find that it reduce oil seed super well! Beside Biotherm, I have fall in love with Uriage and now Hada Labo. I find that it's the best moisturising products I've ever used... (Some other moisturizing products I've used were good.. but I still can see abit of flaky around my temples and cheeks. )

After using Hada Labo... the flaky skin around my dry areas seem to reduce alot! I donno whether is it becos of Hada Labo or the increase of products I've used during my skincare routine! lolx (But I do know that I like my skincare routine now... cos it the best so far)

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Essence(SD$30.90)

My say on::
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Essence
Normally, Essence should be used after Lotion before Milk... but I find that this extra step was abit too THICK(hydrating) for my poor combination skin.. I start to have oil seeds around my Jaw line (it not due to PMS/Stress) Once I stop using the essence, my oil seed start to minimize(that how I knew it was cause by the adding in the essence)

I didn't used essence often, I rotate it with Hydrating Milk(On time when I feel that my skin was abit tight/dry.. I used essence at night instead of Hydrating Milk.)

The texture of the essence look like serum, very watery when I rub it against my palm.. One pump was enough for the whole face. It was sticky compare to the lotion and milk.. but once it absorbed.. it just feel moist (not sticky/powder/matt)

Personally, I find that the 3 steps: Lotion, Essence and Milk. Are more suitable for dry to normal skin type For combination/oily skin.. 2 step was enough (Lotion + Milk) or (Lotion + Essence)

Anyway.. it might also depend on your own skin condition (Some might have oily skin due to dehyration.. so this 3 step might be the cure/answer for your oily skin

The Milk and essence does feel this sticky if you pat slowly like the CF

My over all thoughts on this Hydrating range:
I do not know which product in this range does the best, but I believe that the lotion does prep up my skin for good absorbtion of moisture! And all products work well with one another. (I would give the most credits to the Lotion and Milk- becos I didn't rotate this 2 products with other products most of the time)

- very hydrating
- my skin feel so soft and smooth
- Skin feel really supple
- Does brighten up my skin abit (It just look hydrated with brightness.. not dull at all)
- I kinda notice that my pores around my cheeks(near my nose) minimized abit.

The toner sounds really good! If I were to start with their regime, that might be what I would start with! Laughing out loud

That sure sounds like a lot of steps.... but does it do anything else than hydrating? like any firming action, or give skin a glow?

very in depth review! but i feel like i dont need moisture.. already have oily skin! does it lessen the oiliness?

debx: Moisturizing is a must for oily skin too! We don't really know what causes the skin to be oily.. it might be lack of moisturize under the skin. (When your skin have enough moisture, it will become more supple, less oily and reduce pigmentation too)

Just take your time to find the one that suit your skin better (As for hada labo... you can try the lotion(toner) first)

Hi,

Just came across your blog post regarding the hada labo. Feel like getting the exfoliating wash and lotion. Dont know if i should get the milk coz i get really oily on the t zone and a little on the face. I wish to just stick with one product range regime.

Wonder if this work for oily-oliy skin or only for those oily due to dehydration.

Minyi:
I think getting the exfoliating wash is a good choice.. (even though I personally haven't try that on my face yet) but compare to the hydrating wash.. it was cleaner and better for combination to oily skin.

The Hydrating milk not really that thick... I have combination skin, which will break-out easily and have oily T-zone(thought not as oily compare to oily skin people.) ... but it hydrate my skin without feeling thicj.

Moisturizing is very important even for oily skin.. with hydrating skin, your face won't product much oil.

If you really unsure about it... you can get the 3 pack samples fro Fr3b(link above) to try it out first before spending the money Smiling
